Safety of machineries is necessary not only to protect the operator from accidents and injuries but also to create a safe working environment so that those who are moving around the workplace are also safe. Projectiles ejected from moving machineries can fall upon people and cuts and bruises can happen from sharp edges of machines. The possibilities of safety hazards are so many that it would be almost as many as there are machines manufactured across the world.
In places where emissions and materials from machines can cause severe injuries or even electric shocks can be a threat, putting up machine guards may not be the right solution. Instead, cutting off the area from easy access is a better way of managing the hazards and ensuring safety. Another possibility is that machines are quite old may not have adequate safety guards. These need to be isolated by using industrial safety fencing. The fencing forms a guarded perimeter around the machine so that entry of all and sundry is restricted.
Fencing is an easier option
Setting up industrial safety fencing is an easier way to create machine protection as it does not involve complicated designs and construction like machine guards. Since machine guards are fitted to the machines, its design and construction would depend upon the design and construction of the machine where it is used. The design of machine guards should also take into consideration the operations that can be performed on the machine. Simply put, fabricating machine guards is a complicated engineering process that is best handled by the machine manufacturers. But this is not the case for industrial safety fencing.
Features of safety fencing
Although named safety fencing, the features are similar to any normal wire fencing that we see around us. The fencing is made from panels of wire mesh that are pre-fabricated and can be fixed to posts that are erected along the perimeter of the area that has to be demarcated. There is door that can be locked to cut off the area completely and this door can be re-positioned if you like. The dangerous machine is placed inside the fencing with restricted entry of people into the area. Only trained people who are familiar with the machine and its operations are allowed inside thereby reducing the risks of safety hazards.
Make a choice
The sturdy steel fencing is available in modular sections of different heights – five feet, seven feet and eight feet. Panels are also available in different sizes and you can select a hinge door, sliding door or door for clear access. The fastening arrangement of panels to the posts is also flexible which makes it easy for removal. Installation of the fencing is also easy and can be done by a single person using normal hand tools. The doors have multiple locking options and have door catches that are built-in for added safety.
Installing industrial safety fence increases the safety and ensures compliance with international safety standards as these are manufactured in accordance to ANSI and OSHA guidelines.
